2012 has started seeing different kinds of influenza. Flu is a communicable disease which causes mild illness to some while severe to many. The swine flu virus is suspected to make 2012 worse than previous years.

The flu symptoms this year can be analyzed for three kinds of flu viruses. They can be the type A, type B, and type C. Type C flu virus causes only mild illness whereas type A and type B viruses cause epidemics every year. The most common flu symptoms consist of fever, coughing, sore throat, runny nose, headaches, body aches, chills, fatigue, etc. However, in case of flu symptoms 2012, the symptoms may be more severe because of the H1N1 virus. Also, people may experience fatigue, vomiting, and diarrhea this year.

Many times, people confuse cold with flu because both are respiratory illness. However, they are caused by different viruses. Because of their similar symptoms, flu and the common cold can be difficult to differentiate. But because the flu symptoms seem to be more severe than the usual flu symptoms, it will be easier for people to know whether they are suffering from flu or common cold.

A person suffering from flu, especially the swine flu, is recommended to avoid close contact with others because of the contagious nature of the flu.
