The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports say that around 23 million people suffer from stomach bugs annually. Stomach bug can attack anyone and anytime but people are more vulnerable to it during winters.

Stomach bugs 2011, although highly infectious, last only a couple of days. People suffering from stomach bug may remain contagious for a week or so even after their recovery. To stay far from the discomforting stomach bugs, one needs to follow precautionary actions such as washing hands frequently (before eating food, after using restrooms, etc.), washing vegetables and fruits thoroughly before eating, etc. Homes where there are sick people should be properly cleaned so that others do not contract the illness. For example: door handles, TV remotes, etc. should be properly disinfected with bleach so that the virus won’t spread.

There is no cure for stomach bugs and antibiotics are of no use. But, some relief may be experienced by regular intake of lots of water, ginger tea, ginger ale, etc. Green leafy vegetables and fiber-rich fruits work like medicines for people with stomach bugs. Taking rest and drinking lots of water help to make-up for the loss of water caused by diarrhea. Other things that can help tackle stomach bugs 2011 are raw ginger, cinnamon, Vitamin C, green tea, salads, etc.
