What are the active ingredient in the flu shot

Flu shots usually have a combination of viruses in them. Viruses contained are either in live but inactive form or deadened form that is cultured in chicken eggs. Apart form this they might have preservatives like formaldehyde. Thermisol is one of the controversial preservatives that is being added to a few types of flu shots.
