Where did influenza originate

Since the symptoms of influenza are very similar to other ailments, it is tough to trace the origin. However the first accepted outbreak was in 1580 in Russian. It was reported to have spread to Africa and Europe later. One of the unforgettable influenza out break was in 1918. Commonly termed as Spanish flu outbreak it was due to type A influenza, H1N1 subtype
