Define stomach ulcer?
Peptic ulcer(medical term: ulcer pepticum) is also known as peptic ulcer disease(PUD). It is defined as mucosal erosions(greater or equal than 0.5 cm) of the gastrointestinal tract(or a segment of it). This is most of the times acidic and hence is very painful. About 80% of the ulcers are associated with Helicobacter pyroli.
