Flu Shot Reactions
Effects of Flu Shot
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention has declared that the flu shot creates rare side effects and minimum risk with more benefits. The side effects are mild and tolerable and persist only for a day. It may be mild fever, swelling, redness and soreness at the point of injection. Only very few people with health problems have adverse effects due to flu shot. Generally speaking, you need not worry about flu shot reactions altogether.
Many doctors and scientists worry that the major ingredient in flu shot, thimerosal, is the cause for creating adverse effects on health condition in children. Thimerosal, also known as neurotoxin, is a mercury based preservative. It is capable of leaving deposits of mercury in brain, thus creating a sufficient damage to the brain and then to the nerves. Some researchers have revealed that thimerosal is linked with autism. The recent development in autism has induced further research in this arena.
The CDC confirmed that thimerosal or mercury in flu shot does not create any adverse effects and there is no convincing evidence for it. The effect of mercury induces redness around the injected area and causes swelling. If in case you suspect about flu shot reactions especially the effects of thimerosal, you can purchase the flu shot free from preservatives. Though these vaccines have the traces of mercury, the percentage is low and does not react like the vaccine with preservative.
Flu shot reactions will be severe for those who are allergic to chicken eggs. The dead viruses of influenza get developed in chicken eggs and have proven to be the main cause for this effect. CDC states that the severe effects of flu shot vaccine will be visible within a few hours of vaccination. Flu shot reactions includes weakness or dizziness, paleness, hives, wheezing, hoarseness, breathing problems and increasing heart rate. The vaccinated persons should be aware of these symptoms and should consult the doctor immediately as soon as they find any of the above symptoms.
Above all Guillain-Barre syndrome is the rare but considered as one of the serious flu shot reactions. The threatening after effects are nervous damage and temporary paralysis. People who experience severe side effects do not go for vaccine subsequently.
Always consult your doctor and discuss your health in detail before getting a flu shot! This would help you to get the shot at the right time with no adverse reactions with ease.

This fall’s seasonal flu shots will include a vaccine for the H1N1 virus. The question is whether those shots will arrive before swine flu returns to northwestern Pennsylvania
Every time I have a flu shot, I get high body temperature and feverish feeling, and my doctor says that its just normal. So far that is the only effect that I have for flu shots.
Only shows that there are always two sides on a coin. But let us not focus on the side effects, let us more think of the benefits that we can get from it.
