The common cold and seasonal flu symptoms are overlapping with those of H1N1 virus. However, some or all of these may manifest in the infected person. These complications may include sinus infection, and bronchitis, etc. Since the younger children are unable to explicitly express their condition, the caretaker must be extra vigilant and watch out for the signs like bluish tinge to the skin, sharp, short breaths, drowsy and inattentive attitude, lesser consumption of fluids, infrequent urination, etc. Such warnings signify that the child may be having a more severe form of flu, in addition to the seasonal flu symptoms.
The h1n1 symptoms usually recede within 2 to 3 days. However, in severe cases, this may last upto 7 to 10 days. And even after the symptoms are actively gone, the infected person may still be contagious for a period of 10 days or so. Hence, care must be taken in this regard.
You may wonder that h1n1 symptoms are actually from mild to moderate, with lesser casualty rate. So, why is there unrest among masses regard this pandemic. The basic point is that a new strain of virus is actually quite unpredictable. A simple mutation is the virus make-up can prove to be really fatal. So, intensive researches are underway to divulge more about the vaccination possibilities and controlling of H1N1 attributes.
